Hospice Philosophy
|
|
Hospice affirms life and focuses on the quality of life. Hospice exist to provide support and
care for persons in the last phases of an incurable disease so that they might live as fully
and comfortable as possible. Hospice recognizes dying as a normal process whether or not
resulting from disease. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. Hospice exist in the
hope and belief that through appropriate care and the support of a caring community sensitive
to their needs, patients and families may be free to attain a degree of mental and spiritual
preparation for death that is satisfactory to them.

Hospice Complete operates on the Biblical principle of doing more than what is expected. We believe
that part of our service to you and your family is to become a friend. We care as much about you and your
family as a person, as we do about your medical needs. We will spend time educating you about what to
expect and how we can help. We take the time to just sit and talk, and we are really good listeners.
The heart of our hospice family is our team: a group of professionals who provide comfort and care for our
patients and their families in their time of need. The team is comprised of the patient’s physician,
Hospice Complete’s medical director, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, clinical social workers,
non-denominational chaplains, home health aids, and trained community volunteers. This team works together
with the patient and their family to develop a personalized plan of care to make the individual’s remaining
time as meaningful and comfortable as possible. This personalized care includes everything from providing
expert medical attention to the patient, to educating family members on how to administer care and monitor
comfort, to helping perform household chores, to offering counseling and bereavement services. As part of our
services paid for by Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance companies, Hospice Complete will provide
medical supplies and equipment associated with the terminal diagnosis, such as wheel chairs, hospital bed,
walkers, bandages, oxygen, and whatever is needed medically to achieve our individualized plan of care for
each patient, at little or no cost to the patient. Hospice Complete will also provide medications associated with the
terminal illness to help relieve symptoms at little or no cost to the patient.
